Poly Pro Tools P-6880EBO The HINJA Collapsible Scoop Review
I bought this to keep in my car, as sometimes, you have to dig someone out of a ditch. It's a sturdy, lightweight shovel.
There is a black clip in the middle that lifts and then is inserted into the handle - the lower setting locks the handle into the compact setting; the other setting expands the shovel so you can use it. The locking mechanism works well. I have used the shovel and have not experienced any collapsing issues.
However, the clip mechanism requires the use of two fully functional hands to pry it open. Not recommended for those with weak hands or advanced arthritis.

Faulty materials or one-off problem? - M. Fathauer - Mammoth Lakes, CA United States
Initially it worked quite well. It appers as though the material becomes brittle because it cracked while lifting a very moderate amount of snow during first use in second winter season. Beware.
Contacted manufacturer. They were apologetic and quickly sent out a replacement at no cost. Could have just been a manufacturing flaw.
Collapsing not Collapsable Shovel - Gerald O'Brien - Brooklyn, NY
My fingers and hands are raw from being pinched by thhis shovel.
Sure it unfolds from a very small size. But when you start to shovel, any resistance it meets -- harder snow, a little ice, whatever -- and the shovel comes apart, nicking your hands and fingers in the process.
The mechanism that locks the fullly extended shovel in place is laughable.
Save your money -- and your hands.
